Examining the benefits of operating automatised shuttles in public transport

Description:
AS-NaSa stands for Automated shuttle buses – use-of-potential analysis Saxony-Anhalt. The goal is to investigate the benefits of operating automatised shuttle buses in public transport in Saxony-Anhalt. First, suitable roads are identified and examined. Subsequently, requirements for the vehicles and the infrastructure are documented. Based on a pilot operation, the users’ acceptance is examined and a control centre using real-time-communication is established. On the basis of the outcome, recommendations are given to interested ministries and city councils.

Goals:

• Initial operation of an automatised shuttle bus and control centre in Stolberg (Mansfeld-Südharz)
• Examination of the benefits for Saxony-Anhalt
